Frequently asked
The most common admissions questions.
If yours isn't listed here, write to us or ask during the tour.
When can I start the admissions process?
Any time of the year. The regular admissions cycle formally opens in November for the following academic year, but we receive applications and tours all year. Mid-year transfers are subject to availability.
What documents are needed?
For the formal application: student's birth certificate, CURP (Mexican ID number), proof of address, official ID of both parents or guardian, report cards from the two previous school years, basic medical certificate, 4 student passport photos. For special cases (international transfers, students with particular needs) we coordinate additional documentation case by case.
Is there an entrance exam?
There is a pedagogical evaluation, not a traditional 'exam'. For Pre-K and Kindergarten it is a playful maturity evaluation. From Elementary onward it includes reading, math, and a writing exercise appropriate to the level. The goal is not to filter but to know the student to assign them to the correct group and identify areas needing support.
Do you accept non-Catholic families?
Yes, completely. Newman Institute has an authentic Catholic identity, but admission is open to families of any faith or none, as long as there is respect for our educational proposal and virtue formation. Many of our families seek the academic rigor and values, not necessarily religious practice.
Do you accept mid-year transfers?
Yes, subject to availability in the corresponding level. Transfers follow the same process (tour, application, evaluation) but may require a leveling plan according to the curriculum of origin, especially if coming from very different pedagogical models.
How many students per class?
We deliberately keep small groups. Typical capacity is 18-22 students per group, depending on level. Pre-K and Kinder with smaller capacity; Elementary and Middle School a bit more. This allows personalized attention and the classical Socratic discussion model we practice.
What if my child is not accepted?
It is uncommon, but when it happens we explain the reasons in writing and, if the reason is only capacity, the child is placed on a waitlist with priority for the next cycle. If the reason is academic or model fit, we suggest specific alternatives and recommendations.
The first step
Start by getting to know us in person.
Before any application or document, the first step is always the tour. 45 minutes. No commitment.
